Achieving Peak Performance

There are hundreds of triathlon and running coaches on the market today. I believe that there has to be the right "fit" between athlete and coach in order for 100% satisfaction. A coach needs to listen and offer guidance to the athlete based on where he/she is at mentally, emotionally, and physically. This is where intuition plays a key factor in the success of any endurance training program. As a athlete you must remove all spiritual, mental and emotional blocks that keep you from achieving peak performance.

Over my 15+ year development as an endurance athlete, I was blessed to be able to race all triathlon distances from sprint, olympic, half ironman, and ironman. As a runner, I raced all distances from 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon. I even challenged myself with a 200 mile bike race. I have had the invaluable experience of racing multiple triathlons as an age grouper at all distances, and hitting the podium multiple times. These events took place across the United States in moderate to brutal conditions. I qualified to race as a professional triathlete, racing two years on the long course professional triathlete circuit in 2007 and 2008. I raced with the most fit athletes in the world as a professional triathlete in the 2008 Hawaii Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. This was the 4th Ironman that I did in that year (14 total as of 2010). Living in Michigan I had to train through real winters and had to adapt my training to suit my full time job.

After observing many athletes of all abilities both in training and racing, there seems to be a common factor: Those that reach their full potential are masters at moving into a "natural altered state" while both training and racing. I believe that there are no limits as to what we can achieve if we are in a balanced state.
